SARAJEVO – Halil Lagumdzija was elected the new president of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of BiH today.
Halil Lagumdzija has been a judge of the Court of BiH and a member of the HJPC since February 2021, and he was given a mandate for the period until 2025. He replaced Vukoja Dragomir, whose term of office has expired, as a member of the HJPC.
Today, the president was chosen between Biljana Simeunović, Halil Lagumdžija and Srdjan Force after the interim president Sanela Gorušanović-Butigan withdrew her candidacy.
Halil Lagumdzija won seven votes and advanced to the second round, while Biljana Simeunovic and Srdjan Forca won four votes each.
After the second round of voting, Lagumdzija was joined in the second round by Srdjan Forca. In the second round, Lagumdzija received eight votes, while Froca received seven.
Simeunovic and Gorusanovic-Butigan were elected vice presidents of the BiH High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council.
The voting was secret, and Amila Kunosić, as the oldest member of the HJPC, was elected to chair today’s session.

Who is Halil Lagumdzija?
He was born in 1960 in Rudo. He graduated from the Faculty of Law in Sarajevo in 1985. He started working as a lawyer in the company “Polyester” Priboj-Serbia in 1986. In the period from March 1994 to mid-October 1995, he served as Vice President and President of the Executive Board of the Goražde District.
He was appointed a judge of the District Military Court of Goražde on October 17, 1995. He performed it until the establishment of the Cantonal Court of Goražde on September 4, 1996. year, where he worked as a judge until 30.06.2010. years.
