On the occasion of the 1,200 days since the citizens of Banja Luka first went out to protest against the death of David Dragicevic, they gathered yesterday and re-posted the heart and photo of the murdered young man in the city center.
Several members of the group “Justice for David” held a peaceful walk from the mouth of the river Crkvena to Krajina Square, where the “Heart of David Dragicevic” is located.
They gathered with banners, and the famous song of the deceased young man “Kid in the ghetto” was played.
At the head of the line was a large banner of 1,200 days of crimes without punishment, and members of the group and Dragicevic’s parents addressed those present.
David Dragicevic’s mother, Suzana Radanovic, said that justice would surely come to the murderers, accomplices and those who tried to cover up the murder, and that those who avoid justice of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH will not go unpunished because “all names are known”.
The protestors stopped at the police station to symbolically point to the police’s poor attitude towards the whole case and activists fighting for justice. In front of the Police Administration, the citizens played recordings and statements of police officials who held a press conference on March 26, 2018. At that conference, they claimed that David robbed a house in Velibora Janjetovića Janje Street and then died tragically. They reminded that with the recent adoption of Davor Dragicevic’s appeal, the Constitutional Court of BiH announced the confession of the Banja Luka District Prosecutor’s Office that the house robbery did not happen and that the Prosecutor’s Office was not informed about the press conference.
Activists have also publicly named some of the prosecutors of the Banja Luka District Prosecutor’s Office who have criminal charges against police officers who illegally deprived citizens of their liberty. They also called out honest policemen in Banja Luka and asked how many honorable policemen there really are if everyone is silent and does not react.
“We are asking prosecutor Gordana Mijatovic when she will issue an arrest warrant for Miroslav Aleksic, who ordered the arrest of citizens. The criminal charges against him and some other dishonorable members of the police with prosecutor Gordana Mijatović have been pending for a year. Some other reports have been with the same prosecutor for a long time “, said Ozren Perduv.
Activists left banners and children’s handcuffs in front of the Police Department. The police did not react and the walk of the activists through the streets of Banja Luka, as well as in front of the Police Administration, passed without incident.
